Local Filmmaker Received Praise at Movie's Premiere

Local up-and-coming filmmaker got a taste of what it was like to be a celebrity this past weekend. Jared Scott Mercier, an Arizona State University graduate, screened his first feature-length film titled Madison Hall to public on June 6 at Chandler Cinemas, 2140 N. Arizona Ave. The film centers around 14 college students who send campus police on a wild ride as they search for who they believe is a terrorist involved in a pair of fights, a kidnapping, a break-in in the university's tunnel system and a bomb threat. He based the screenplay on real events that took place during his freshman year of college.

The principal photography started back in 2006 with a crew of only 10 (our very own graphic designer and video production artist was part of that crew) after months of preparation, pre-production and hard work. There were goals of releasing the film less than a year after the video production, but due to lack of post-production crew and budget, the movie premiere was pushed back even further. After 3 years of post-production work, Mercier's baby was finally premiered to the public with almost a full theater in attendance. He has received great praise from his colleagues, and previous mentors. Because of the positive turn out of the premiere, he has been busy with interviews from local newspapers.

Mercier plans to submit Madison Hall to numerous festivals and hopes to meet a distributor. In addition, Disc2day is proud to be Mercier's first DVD Duplication & Replication Company and we will continue to provide him with any CD & DVD services he may need throughout his advancing career.
